If you are a current or previous 4-H Member, between the ages of 18 and 25, read through the details below for everything you need to know about becoming a YAC member and how to apply.
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is the national youth voice for 4-H Canada, providing leadership opportunities for outstanding young people from across the country who are currently active 4-H members or recent alumni. Our YAC members – one per province for a total of 12 members – are youth who want to continue to play a role and contribute to the 4-H movement in Canada. YAC member terms last two years with the possibility of renewal for an additional one or two-year term!
YAC members are: strong leaders, team players, willing to share their opinions and perspectives, respectful, trustworthy and, above all, passionate about 4-H!
What are the benefits of being a YAC member?

– Create new networks and friendships from across the country
– Unique travel opportunities (including travel to Halifax in April 2022!)
Selection Criteria and Requirements
YAC member candidates must:
- be between the age of 18 and 25;
- be a current 4-H member in good standing or recent alumni (within five years);
- commit to volunteer at least two hours per month, and additional time as required;
- attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings and events (the first YAC training will be virtual in February/March based off of the new YAC member’s schedules);
- demonstrate experience and success in public speaking, leadership, group facilitation and teamwork;
- demonstrate knowledge of 4-H at the local, provincial and national levels;
- be willing to travel within Canada when required;
- be available to be sent on behalf of 4-H Alberta to the upcoming leadership summit in Halifax, Nova Scotia, April 22-24, 2022!
Responsibilities
- Attend and participate actively in all in-person and teleconference meetings.Â
- Participate actively in assigned working groups including:
- Assisting 4-H Canada staff in the planning and facilitation of national conferences;Â
- Acting in an advisory capacity to 4-H Canada staff on various topics;Â
- Representing 4-H youth members at the national level to the 4-H Canada Board of Directors.
- Represent 4-H Canada within provinces and promote national programs and opportunities.
- Be a positive role model for 4-H members.
- Represent 4-H Alberta at a national level and share resources and ideas with other provincial representatives.
- Share new ideas, key messaging, and opportunities from 4-H Canada with 4-H Alberta.
- Work with 4-H Alberta on creating opportunities for 4-Hers that utilize national resources or ideas.

Provincial Event Registration Policies
- Online Registration opens at 12:00 am on the first day of registration and is available 24 hours a day until midnight of the registration deadline.
- Registration is not considered complete until full payment is received.
- All requests for late registration (after the Regular Registration Deadline) will be accepted at the sole discretion of the program lead and will be subject to an additional fee of $25.00 on top of the Regular Registration cost.
- An administrative fee of $25.00 will be retained on all cancellations. Cancellations received less than 14 days before the event start date will forfeit the entire registration fee unless a delegate replacement is available or extenuating circumstances are at play.
